Hypnotherapy
What is Hypnotherapy?
Clinical Hypnotherapy combines hypnosis and solution focused psychotherapy to help you reduce stress, anxiety and depression. By taking a solution focussed approach, we will not go over the past or the problem but focus on what you want to achieve and creating the future you desire. It’s an empowering therapy with elements of neuroscience, CBT and positive psychology, which can help to create new neural pathways. This can lead you to overcome limiting beliefs and behaviours, meaning a more fulfilled and happier life.
What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a changed state of awareness and increased relaxation that allows for improved focus and concentration. You will always be completely in control and many people liken it to the experience of meditation or mindfulness.
What is psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy, often referred to as `talking therapy’, involves discussion with the aim to overcome stress or emotional problems. With elements of CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and positive psychology also included, it is a collaborative process between the therapist and client. You will never be told what to do, as only you know what you need; you may just need some support to find the answer.

Hypnotherapy can help with the following:

What to expect
The first step in hypnotherapy is an initial free consultation in person or online. This approximate 60-minute session enables me to understand the issues that you would like addressed, and tailor a plan to help you achieve your goals. A collaborative approach is key - meaning you must want changes in your life to happen.
A typical follow up session lasts 60 minutes and involves shifting the focus from your problems to your aspirations. I do this by encouraging you to focus on the small steps towards your goal, alongside reflection of your successes, followed by hypnosis.
How can hypnotherapy help with stress, anxiety and depression?
Affecting more people every year and leading to high statistics for work related sickness, the life limiting effects of stress and anxiety can lead to relationship breakdowns, sleep problems, panic attacks, phobias, and IBS.
We all know the symptoms…
-
Feeling tired all the time
-
Problems concentrating
-
Headaches
-
Problems sleeping
-
Worrying about things we know we can’t control
-
Irritability
-
Rechecking things
Hypnotherapy can address stress and anxiety by enabling you to understand how the brain works and how stress and anxiety are created. Whilst the hypnosis aids in inducing relaxation and releasing tension, the combination with psychotherapy will gently challenge your perspective, identify self-limiting negative thought patterns, begin to reframe anxious thoughts, and reprogramme the mind’s stress response. Behavioural changes are made through the development and strengthening of new habits, helping to create new neural pathways and ultimately, leading to better self-confidence, improved resilience, reduced physical symptoms and overall wellbeing.

About Sharon

Welcome to Holistic Mind Body and Soul.
My name is Sharon, and I offer Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy, both online and in person. I will work collaboratively with you in a professional, empathetic and non-judgemental way to support you to recognise and utilise your internal strengths and resources, which in turn will enable you to grow in confidence and achieve your goals.
My journey into hypnotherapy began following 20 years of working with children and young people with special educational needs accompanied by trauma, in both educational settings as well as the home environment. During this time, I witnessed many professionals offering support, however this often-entailed revisiting past events which, for some, led to further traumatisation. As a result, I began to reflect on my own negative experiences and how I had overcome them by focusing on the present and future, which by chance led me to Solution Focused Hypnotherapy.
My passion for helping and supporting people drove me to find out more about how the client centred therapy worked and the neuroscience behind it, and once I began the training, I realised how aligned my personal beliefs and experiences were with the solution focused brief therapy model. During case studies I was amazed at the positive impact on the clients I worked with, and the outcomes they achieved in a relatively short time frame. This was testament to how attention to thought patterns and behaviours could elicit change, whilst increasing confidence and self-esteem in the process.
In 2019, following ten months of interactive face to face learning (450 hours) I completed my Diploma in Clinical Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy, with Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training Centre in London (CPHT), renowned as setting the gold standard in hypnotherapy training. I hold full insurance, a fully enhanced DBS certificate, and am registered with the relevant professional bodies to ensure that standards are upheld.
Furthermore, whilst undertaking my hypnotherapy training, I recognised that some case studies (due to the stress, anxiety or depression they were experiencing) found it difficult to physically relax during hypnosis, therefore the notion of mentally relaxing was increasingly more difficult. As a result of this, I decided to train in Indian Head massage and Foot Reflexology to be able to aid in this area, and to create a bespoke treatment for the mind and body, should it be required. This approach allows each client to be fully in control of their journey towards their healing and relaxation of the mind, body and soul.
